The Biggest Mistake You Can Make in Internet Marketing
May 17th, 2012 by
There are a lot of mistakes you can make in your Internet marketing business. You can pick the wrong niche and develop an unprofitable marketing campaign.
You can hire the wrong ghostwriter and end up paying for bad content. You can spend money on pay per click campaigns that don’t turn a profit.
No matter what other mistakes you make in your Internet marketing career, there is one mistake that outranks them all. The biggest mistake you can make in Internet marketing is not getting started. If you’re dragging your feet on a project or are in constant “analysis paralysis”, you need to get over the hurdle and start succeeding in your business.
People don’t get started for a variety of reasons. There is a lot of information out there about how to make money from Internet marketing. Within just a few days you can easily become overwhelmed by the amount of information out there.
If you’ve been at this for a few months, or even a few years, and haven’t taken the time to establish your business, you’re doing yourself a disservice.
Many people put the brakes on their Internet marketing business because they are trying to do the “right thing.” They want to find the perfect business, the perfect niche or the perfect plan in order to make them guaranteed income.
There are a few problems with this line of thinking…
First, there is no such thing as the “right thing.”
Some plans may work better than others, but there is no one way that everyone will be able to make money with. Some people do better with info product creation. Others become experts at affiliate marketing. Some are drawn to contextual advertising.
The point is that there is no “right” for everyone. You won’t know what will be right for you until you try. Until you attempt to work on your business, you will just be wasting time.
In addition, once you choose your method, you may not have success with every single keyword or every single product. It’s not the nature of Internet marketing – it’s the nature of life.
If everything in life were guaranteed we wouldn’t be challenged to grow and change. Even if you fail at an Internet marketing experience, chances are you’ll have learned something important that you can use on the next project.
The key is in taking the right perspective. Understanding that there is no “right” way of doing things, you need to commit yourself to starting and seeing a product through no matter what.
You have to accept that your projects may not always succeed, but they will be guaranteed to not succeed if you never try. Many wannabe marketers spend their time worrying about whether or not something will work before actually trying. They spend so much time trying to find the right thing, they miss out on actually succeeding online.
Don’t be one of the people who wishes they could make money online and then never takes action. Take action and learn from your mistakes. It’s the only way to succeed online.
