Choosing the Right Glove

Friday, July 31st, 2009

In every game, the gears or equipments that a player will use is important. In softball, there are certain equipments that a player needs to have before playing. One of those equipments is the softball gloves. Here is one helpful softball tip; if you are a softball player then you must find yourself a nice glove.

You must choose a glove that fits perfectly in your hand. It will help you improve your skills no matter what is your position in the game. A glove can be of big help when it comes to defense. A glove that is not perfectly fitted in your hand can truly affect the way you play because you are not comfortable. However, you need to consider several factors before you will finally get yourself a good glove.

The following are softball tips that you need to consider in choosing the right glove:

·  How much are you willing to pay? You should always take the price into consideration whenever you are buying something. You can find a softball glove that is $300 above but if you will be resourceful enough you will find out that there is also a softball glove that can only be bought for only $30 and it can also work perfectly for you.

·  If you are an infielder then you must choose a glove that is smaller than the size of the glove of the outfielder.

·  The size and design. There are several designs for softball gloves for you to choose from. The design of your gloves really depends on you; the most important thing is you are comfortable with it. You should also look at its size. Look for a size that suits your needs and the glove should be lightweight. It is as if you are not wearing any gloves.

·  Try the glove in your hand. When you are buying a glove, it is necessary that you try it for you to know if it fits you. A glove that is not perfectly fitted will give you a hard time during the game.

One important softball tips for you to remember, in choosing the right glove, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll going to but the most expensive, the coolest, and the most attractive glove. A glove that is expensive doesn’t really mean that it is the best glove. A glove’s purpose is to catch softballs. It will be better if you find a softball glove that is cheap but at the same time fits you perfectly.

Hiking – Don’t Lose Your Way

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Hiking can be a great experience, but when you get lost, things can go from bad to worse pretty quick. Even just the slightest misstep off the trail can lead to a major problem. As with any sport, being prepared and mindful is your best protection.

The easiest way not to get lost is of course to stay on the established trail. Most national parks and other hiking areas have marked trails running throughout them. They will have signs (though possibly very subtle) and will let you know exactly how far you will be hiking. Staying on these will ensure that you don’t get lost. However if you like the challenge of exploring new areas or have been hiking the same trails for quite some time and are looking for something different, then you may need to be a bit more aware of your surrounding.

Before you head out hiking, know where you will be heading. You can purchase topographical maps at sports stores or you can pick one up at most National Parks visitors centers. These maps show height difference on the land, so you will have an easier time determining where you are and where you are going. A compass is another useful tool, however it is generally used in combination with a map. If you have a compass and no idea of where you are heading, then you are just lost in a disclosed direction.

If you have hiking books with previously hiked trails, they will generally provide you with latitude and longitudinal coordinates. If you are working with one of these, then a GPS will be very useful. Don’t however rely on this entirely. Batteries are not infallible and occasionally the signal can be blocked depending on where you are hiking.

If you have not followed the above suggestions and have already gotten lost, there are a few things to keep in mind. The first is that trails are rarely if ever set up to bring you back to a town or main road. Don’t assume that just because you found a trail, you are home free. You will need to be aware of the position of the sun, and keep an eye out for familiar landmarks. It is a good idea to keep a pen and pad with you to jot down some of these landmarks, as your memory will sometimes fail you. Sometimes it is best (though it may be longer) to just retrace your steps. Going back to the last place that you were familiar with may get you back on track.

Hopefully, you will never find yourself in this situation. Careful planning and keeping your wits about you should help prevent it. While it may not always get service, having your cell phone with you at all times can’t hurt. Have fun on your hike!

Here are some things you should do and some attitude that you must possess in order for your softball training to be successful:

·  Dream and turn that dream into reality. Dreams are the reasons why you keep on hoping. If you dream that you will become a good softball player then you will. Be positive about it. Don’t just dream because dreaming is only the beginning. You need to do everything to attain that dream.

·  Commit yourself. If you decided to become a softball player then you must list some things that you want to achieve or skills that you want to possess and then commit yourself into this.

·  Face your fears and your flaws. Identify what are the things that serve as a hindrance for you to achieve your goals and learn to face them one by one. Find a way to solve them and remove them. Don’t let them conquer you; it should be the other way around.

·  Plan. In all the things that you even in softball training or practicing, you must create plans. Successful people that you know nowadays succeed because they made concrete plans on their life. You would be like them if you will start making plans now. if you have a plan everything will be clear for you.

·  Write down some notes about your experiences and improvements during softball training. Doing this will let you know what are the things that you have improved and what are the things that you still need to improve.

·  Listen to the people around you. Our friends and all the people that surround us usually have great impact on us. If they are there to support and guide you then you must try to listen to them. Knowing that there are people who support and believe in you can really boosts your self confidence.

·  Develop a good lifestyle. Bad lifestyle can affect how you play softball so you must learn to sacrifice. Partying all night, smoking, and drinking alcohol will not do you any good especially if you are a player.

·  Have self- discipline. This is a characteristic that every person not only softball players must possess. This is like a magic ingredient that makes everything possible and makes every goal reachable.

Follow those softball training tips and for sure there’s a big change that will come out in you, not for the worst but for the best.
