Fixing Fatal System Error in Windows XP

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

A fatal system error message while booting a Windows XP operating system appears mainly due to device driver corruption, file system damage, and operating system crash. This fatal system error makes the system unbootable, rendering to inaccessibility of data saved in Windows XP hard drive. In such cases, if the user has created an updated backup, then s/he can restore data from the backup and continue with his/her work. However, if the user has forgotten to create a backup, then s/he needs to search for a powerful Partition Recovery solutions.

Below is one such fatal system error message that appears when you boot your Windows XP system:

“c000021a Fatal System Error: The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000026c”

Since the error message appears every time during the booting process, the data saved in the hard drive can not be accessed.

Solution:

To get rid of the above error message and to access the data, you need to:

1. Insert Windows XP CD to boot your system.
2. After the system boots, press ‘r’ to use the ‘Recovery Console’.
3. Press ‘Enter’ to select different keyboard layout.
4. Select ‘Windows installation’ if you want to log in. In case, there is only one installation, then the value will be ‘1′.
5. Enter the ‘Administrative’ password, if asked during the installation.
6. Change the folder using:
cd WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB925902$\spuninst
7. Execute the command:
batch spuninst.txt
8. If the above command is successful, you might be able to view a spuninst.tag file using ‘DIR’ copmmand.
9. Reboot your system.

While the above steps help you to overcome the fatal error message, there are situations in which the error message persists. In such cases, you need to re-install Windows XP operating system. To recover lost data after formatting, a user needs to use third-party partition recovery application.

A Partition Recovery Software recoups all lost files and folders from a formatted Windows based hard drive. The software can be easily downloaded from the Internet, and installed, and even used by a non-technical user.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a powerful recovery utility to recover formatted hard drive partitions and data within them. Why is Google Gears Being Shut Down?

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Google Gears is a program that is basically a plugin that allows many of the Google applications like Google Docs or Google Reader to work on your machine when you are offline. These applications typically require an internet connection, but Gears allowed it to be edited and changed when you didn’t have a connection. Any changes that were made offline, would be synced with the Google application allowing you to use these applications like they were sitting right on your desktop.

This functionality is being phased out with the use of Google Gears. While you may be disappointed, this technology is being phased out because it will soon be outdated versus it becoming something that users want or don’t work.

There are new browser standards that will be released in about a year. Currently the standards are HTML4 which will soon move onto HTML5. There is quite a bit more functionality in the new standards that will make something like offline web applications work without external plugins. This is a huge advantage to anyone using a modern browser.

One of the big problems with Gears is that Google would have to code it to work with each operating system as well as individual versions. If Gears worked on your Mac, for example, and there was an upgrade, Gears had to be programmed again to work on the newer version. For many there was a waiting period for Gears to catch up. If you used Linux, some distributions had Gears working fine while others did not.

Now Google can code everything with HTML5 standards in mind meaning that any browser using this, which will be almost all of them, will work well regardless what the underlying platform actually is.

In the long run, Gears was a great idea, but it’s replaced by better technology. HTML5 hopefully will allow many more companies than just Google to have offline modes for the many popular web applications today. This means that it will work on almost any computer that is on the market and will work with future computers also.

Google Gears is being shut down. Before becoming worried about losing the technology, learn what better replacement is being coded at the current time to replace it. You will not have to worry about re-coding every time there is a change to your computer. This alone will save you a lot of time and stress.

Supply Chain Analytics and BI and How They Work Together

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

As companies have struggled through these past couple of years one thing has become apparent that is supply chain visibility has become prevalent than ever before. Supply chain analytics has become important for businesses to monitor and adapt their business priorities and models to readjust forecasts and adjust to demand. Whether it is a push or pull model as companies employ inventory strategy has changed to become a pull model rather than the problematic forecasting that the traditional pull model imposes.

Many C-Level executives are breaking their silence as to how they are getting through this rough time. As stated by Jim Butts, Sr. VP of Transportation at CH Robinson from his perspective the companies that have survived the recession best generally had four attributes: highly variable cost structures; cultures that focused on being very close to customers; strong, active supply chain leadership; and the ability to embrace change more so than competitors economic time. These four attributes points to backbone of many systems out there but do they supply the business intelligence needs of the organization to have the visibility they are looking for?

Looking at these four areas from a systems standpoint brings to light that a system must have components of business process agility and visibility, financials, customer service and supply chain analytics. These functions can be processed through an enterprise performance management solution using dashboards. A system that can unite the data from several systems or aggregate from one central system is a valuable tool to gain insight into your business.

Dashboards that can be catered to individual users with useable data from their own tasks and functions can empower employees to become more productive by making better decisions, becoming more efficient and have access to real-time data for customer service is invaluable. These systems cover the business intelligence provided by operations, finance, IT, customer service, marketing and all other departments within your organization.

A good BI software should include data aggregation from business processes, workflows, workcells, inventory status of everything in plans, replenishment, work in progress, in-transit inventory, inventory already on order, and lead time queries, central or dispersed databases, labor management, operational KPI’s, multiple systems, the ability to unite multiple technologies, possibly cloud capable, an easy to use interface, sales information, non-technical query building for non-technical personnel, department independent capabilities with individual or group security rights to name a few.

If an organization selects this type of flexible BI tool enables the organization to have the ability to make decisions quicker and embrace change because of readily available information be it good or bad but the ability to adapt to that change is the key decision making process that your competitor may not make make which will put you ahead of your competition. It is these companies who have embraced change to rapidly adapt to changing conditions that are showing profitability.

A line told to me from one of our customers “In business you don’t know what you don’t know about your business” He was referring to a supply chain system he had put in to monitor supply, control replenishment, track waste, monitor inventory, control costs from procurement and monitor supplier quality and bidding cycles.

Once the system was implemented and the dashboards were set up the information he was able to aggregate from his system into how his business was working “The results floored me, as to what was going on ” he said, when we started to analyze the data. By understanding what his business was doing this particular customer saved over 36% of cost overruns and gained a 29% more profitability by reusing and accounting for unused material and better sourcing practices. This particular customer actually customized yachts and sold shipbuilding materials for yachts. The new found insight allowed him to change his business processes and become efficient than what he was doing previously.

As can be seen, there are no magic bullets for how BI can change your business but the available solutions can accommodate what ever you are trying to track or fix. But if someone were to give you tools to assist you in your business wouldn’t it be worth a look to see how you can improve its performance?
