Discount Wood Blinds – What you Should Know

All too often, people make the mistake of thinking that wood blinds
are just too expensive to fit their budgets. The truth in most cases is just the opposite. Try searching for discount wood blinds and you will find wood blinds that are not only attractive, but will fit your budget as well. Here is a closer look at ways of finding discount wood blinds.

Before you begin your search for any type of wood blinds you need to do a little prep work. You will need to how many windows you wish to cover as well as get all your measurements written out. This will come in handy later.

Next, get a good idea about the different styles and brands of wood window blinds by doing a little window shopping at some of your local stores. Why is this important? Well, many times what you see online may not look the same in person.

Finally, have a budget in your mind so you know what you can spend.

Now, it’s time to begin your search for discount wood window blinds.

As you were window shopping so to speak I am sure you also took the opportunity to check out the prices on various blinds. Perhaps the store even had a clearance sale going on. This is a great way to find big discounts on wood blinds. You will definitely want to keep an eye out for any sales.

You may also find a one of a kind closeout sale of sorts. This can be a great way to get a good deal, but be careful that the blinds aren’t damaged or defective when you are in the store. Often times these bargains are offered at a no return policy.

Shopping at websites online is another great way to find discount wood blinds as well. Online stores such as Levolor, Hunter Douglas, and many others all have sales at various times of the year. Even beyond that, doing a search for discounted blinds will bring up many other options.

The important thing to keep in mind with buying wood blinds online is to be sure of their return policy. You never know if you might want to return them and you don’t want to find out later that you are out of luck. Any reputable dealer will have a good return policy.

These are just a few ideas on how to find discount wood blinds. Like most anything you want, the key is to take your time and search things out. By doing so you will find exactly what you want at a great price!

Save Money on Utility Bills With This Simple Home Heating Checklist

Are you among the millions of people who cringe whenever that electric or gas bill comes in the mail? There is no doubt about it; utility costs just continue to go up. So, what can you do about it? Although you can’t regulate the rates, you can take steps to keep costs at a minimum. Here is a simple home heating checklist to be sure your home is running at maximum efficiency. -Is your heating system more than 15 years old? If so, consider replacing it with a more modern energy efficient unit.

-On sunny days keep your curtains open to let in the sunlight. You would be surprised at how much warmth this can provide.

-Turn down the thermostat to 65 degrees, especially when you’re away at work or in bed at night. A thermostat that allows you to program it is a great option here.

-Be sure your furnace ductwork is properly sealed and not leaking. Over the years, leaks can easily pop up.

-Turn on ceiling fans to the low setting to help in circulating the warm air that rises, down to the floor level.

-Seal your windows with film during winter months to keep cold air out.

-Be sure there is nothing blocking your registers or air vents.

-Keep the damper closed on your fireplace when you aren’t using it.

-Seal up the areas around doors and windows that is letting in the cold air. This in, itself, can have a dramatic effect on home heating costs.

-Do you use a boiler for winter heating? If so, make sure the pipes are well insulated.

-Have a heating and cooling technician come out at least every 2 years to check over your furnace and complete heating system.

These tips will help insure that you will be getting the most out of your heating dollars, instead of sending them off to the utility company.

Memory Foam Body Pillow is the Perfect Addition to your Home

Memory Foam Body Pillow is the Perfect Addition to your Home

I live in a studio apartment that is about the size of two shoeboxes super-glued together. In this apartment I have the basic bachelor pad necessities: custom built PC, a very comfortable queen size pillow top bed, and a 42” LCD television. That being said, I have little to no room for any other furniture or seating of any kind.

If I am watching TV I am most likely sitting on my bed so I thought I should get a large pillow which would allow me to do so comfortably without ruining my mattress or the linens. I found a 10” “round” memory foam body pillow on a website that stressed the comfort level and the multiple practical uses of their product. Even though the main point the site stressed was the use of the body pillow as a pregnancy aide (positioning for the mother-to-be to improve comfort while sleeping or resting and as a cradle for the new-born child), I thought I could make use of the size and shape of the pillow as a prop to forward on, set behind my back while sitting up in bed, and as a sleeping aide. I bit the bullet and ordered the non-returnable pillow in the hopes I could at least sell it to a friend, or perhaps on eBay or something.

I don’t know how I managed to survive over a year in my apartment without this pillow. I have had it for almost 3 months now and my only concern is whether my constant use of the pillow will warrant me having to purchase another one within a few years. I can lay on my stomach clutching the pillow under my arms and chest in great comfort, I can sit up in bed and against the wall with the pillow providing support for my lower back, and I can wrap around it at night to help me sleep. One unexpected surprise when I received the pillow was that it is 100% memory foam! By this, I do not mean it was 100% memory foam for the first inch and then some sort of filler the remaining 9 inches, I mean it was a huge chunk of memory foam all throughout! It is extremely comfortable and could serve as a home defense devise given its large size and sturdy construction. Hope this article helps those of you who are looking for the perfect body pillow for your home or apartment.
