Thinking Thin and Exercise

Can you lose weight without exercising? Yes it is possible. Is it a good idea? Not really. Why? Well for one thing it will take you longer to lose that weight. Neither will you get the same benefits…exercise speeds up your metabolism, which of course is important when you’re trying to shed excess pounds. Your metabolism determines how quickly you can burn fat. One of the other benefits is that it can help your body with the detox process. As I said in and earlier article, excess fat contains toxins both physical and emotional. To rid the body of these toxins on a physical level, takes healthy food, exercise and lots of water. On an emotional level you may have to deal with many issues, in order to get rid of the toxic emotions stored in those fat cells. I’ll do a future article on that subject.

For now, here are a few very good reasons why you should include exercise in your weight loss program and for overall good health:

* exercise in the form of weight or resistance training speeds up your metabolism

* weight training will also tone and shape your body

* aerobic exercise will help you burn calories so weight loss is quicker and more efficient

* weight training also builds muscle helping your body look firm as opposed to flabby

* exercise helps build strong bones, and will make you physically stronger

* it will help your cardiovascular system, it can lower high cholesterol, increase your energy level and increase circulation in the body

We all know how beneficial exercise is, yet we continue to avoid it whenever we can. The most effective weight loss program will always include exercise, not only for it’s overall benefits to your health, but also for what it contributes to weight loss. Find a program that works for you. Choose a form of exercise that appeals to you. If you do nothing more than walk every day, you will gain enormous benefits and certainly easier, quicker weight loss.

If walking is your thing get a pedometer to measure your steps. Shoot for 10,000 steps a day. If that sounds like a lot, it’s not. You’d be surprised how quickly you’ll get there if you do a few things like take the stairs when you can, walk a couple of blocks on your lunch hour, Us a stair stepper at home, if you’re not into the gym. Spend ten minutes or so, in the morning running in place. Walk the dog an extra block or two. You get the idea. The more time you invest in exercise, the quicker, the easier the weight loss. And remember this needs to be a lifestyle change. You wouldn’t want to put all this effort into losing weight, then revert to your old habits, which will inevitably land you back in the same overweight condition as before. So get some exercise and keep ‘thinking thin’.
