Building A Home Internet Business, Why You Need To Promote Yourself
A fundamental question when you consider that the majority of people join affiliate opportunities, which can have hundred and thousands of members who are each promoting the same product or service whilst building a home internet business.
Look at a typical situation. Imagine you are an affiliate, say of the DHS club so you enter this in a Google Search engine and get 2,060,000 results, now the chances of getting your affiliate site on the first few pages is pretty remote. I do not know, in fact, of any affiliate page showing up in a number one position for any search term as the main Company site will always come first. So if you browse through the Google search engine results you will see the parent Company’s websites plus a few links to some member’s personal websites.
Two sites you will find are links to Paula Griffin and Karel Kraanen, so what do the sites have in common, the answer is our names and details can be found in a separate Google search, and this helps us to promote our business and provides better ranking in the Google search engines. So a casual visitor is more likely to find one of our business sites.
A website with a high position in Google as a result of SEO results, does not however guarantee that you will make any sales or that people will join under you.
One question I often put to people is if you were given a choice who would you buy from, someone you know or a complete stranger, the answer is obvious you will always buy from a person that you know and trust.
I suggest that one of the first steps that anyone should take when building a home internet business is to purchase their own domain name and this is perhaps why Global Domains International is so popular, although you can find cheaper alternatives by purchasing a name from the likes of Godaddy and hosting it with another web hosting company preferably which allows Sub Domains.
What you put on your site is up to you, but it usual to provide some form of Bio, a photograph and your full contact details. some people are concerned about providing telephone numbers and address’s, but if you are going to operate a successful business you must provide potential customers with as many ways as possible to contact you. Perhaps the use of a Post Office box number will be necessary sometime to protect your privacy. You can also provide a contact form on your site to collect visitor’s details.
Your Own personal website will also allow you to provide and use splash pages and Sub Domains to lead people to your affiliate site or Home Internet business opportunities
A Sub Domain looks like this freeleads.XYZ.org where the main website is XYZ.org ” A sub domain is very powerful and to Google search engine spiders looks like a totally different website. Sub domains are very useful to promote keywords and keyword phrases which will lead customers to your business.
Sub Domains and splash pages allow you to have full control of meta tags, descriptions and content of WebPages so that you can home in on the keywords that you are targeting for your business and which will improve SEO results.
Many people use classified ads, traffic exchanges, auto surfs, FFA’s and Emails to promote their business, but as time goes by these bring in less results as more and more people are selling and no one is buying. This situation is slightly different in the third world where classifieds adds for small business will still bring in results until such time as they become more knowledgeable.
The real power behind the internet is the way you have quick access to get answers to almost any question so it makes real sense to ensure that if someone does a who is on you name they will find you. It is also a quick way of finding out if someone is successful on the internet, if they do not show up on a Google search, it will certainly be a good idea to question them about any claims to success that they have.
