How to Avoid Making a Fatal Mistake Making Money on the Internet
Great – you have decided that you want to make money online. Maybe you need to make extra money because you have extra expenses. Maybe your job has been downsized. Or maybe your paycheck has shrunk because of health care costs and/or taxes and your expenses have risen. Maybe you don’t feel fulfilled in your job and would like to make a career change. Maybe you would like to spend more time with your family. Or maybe you want to make extra money to take a trip or buy a new car. Whatever the reason – you want to make sure that you avoid making a fatal mistake making money on the Internet.
If you have been exploring ways to make money online – then you have found hundreds of different avenues to pursue to make money. And there are an equal number of “internet experts” or internet gurus” who have the answer to being successful online. And every week there is at least one new product that is “the latest and greatest” secret that is going to make you a million dollars in the next week! It can be very overwhelming! I know because I have seen hundreds of these “guaranteed to succeed” products. With so many choices – how do you know which path to take?
It is very easy to get caught up in the #1 fatal mistake in making money on the internet – and that is a lack of focus. There are thousands of products out there that have beautifully written sales letters (written by professional copywriters) that make you think – no – make you KNOW – that if you have this product – you will be successful overnight! So – you buy this awesome product – read it – work very hard and try to make it happen – for a week. When, after a week you haven’t made your first million (or even your first hundred) you lose interest. Then you receive your next email about “the latest, greatest product that will guarantee your success” and you buy it – read it – try it – and the cycle starts again. Everyone who has been online has done this – me included – because we are all trying to find the “magic key to success”.
But, here’s the thing – when you are not focused on one thing. You do not give it enough time to work before you jump to the next big thing! So – your first lesson is to study what is available to do online and when you decide what it is you want to do – stick with it long enough to see success with it. Stay focused on just one idea at a time. Don’t buy anything that does not fit with what you are doing at the moment. Concentrate on what you are learning to do then – master that skill – make money with it. Then when you have that idea up, running and making you money – you MAY want to explore other options. But not until you have made money with idea #1 and it is running on autopilot.
In the meantime – make files in your email account and file those emails (with the new “latest, greatest product”) away by category. That way you will have this new product at your fingertips as you have more experience and know exactly what you need next! Put your credit card away! Do not buy anything else until you know exactly what you need next! I really wish someone had told me this several months ago – it would have saved me a lot of money!
Most new people end up buying so many different types of products and have so much internet stuff – and have spent a small fortune and still don’t know how to make money online!. So avoid making the #1 fatal mistake making money on the internet. Relax – research your options – decide how you want to make money online. Learn to be an expert on that aspect of making money on the internet. Focus, focus, focus! No matter what – DO NOT jump around to new ideas. Master one idea at a time. Before you know it – you too will have made money and will be an “internet expert”.
