Starting an internet marketing business is a great idea for a lot of people. An added source of income with little upfront investment, without the hassle of staffing, overheads, premises and the rest that comes with mainstream brick and mortar businesses, internet marketing can be very appealing.

However, it is important to establish yourself and your business properly from the get go and this will require some strategy and planning. It’s important to position yourself correctly, so I have included some success tips and principles that will help to ensure you become part of the ten percent of internet marketers who succeed in their first 120 days.

There is a common misconception that an internet marketing business requires little time, setting up a website, purchasing a domain name, and sending out a few links to your online friends. Anyone who has started an online business with this belief has set themselves up for failure.

There is no secret to success online. Internet marketing is quite simple, that is if you know what you are doing! Success at anything requires persistence, dedication and setting up an internet business does not come without time sacrifice. You must be willing to learn,invest in yourself and purchase necessary tools and resources from the experts in your area of business. Find the most successful online entrepreneurs in your field and follow their lead for ideas and inspiration. Notice I said ‘follow’ though, and not ‘copy’.

You must have a reason to go through the ups and downs of this industry, a reason WHY to keep persevering when times are tough. Whatever it is, you must hold this reason with enough emotion that it will cause you to do extraordinary things and stretch your comfort zone.

Sometimes it can be too easy to walk away from goals and dreams that have cost us little time and little money. Only you can place a value on your business that will keep you dedicated to your success.
