Internet Marketing Tips – Transparency

Well, it was inevitable. With all the commotion that has gone down over hidden forced continuity and just about every other shady Internet marketing practice, something wonderful is starting to happen in regard to Internet marketing called transparency. In this article, I’m going to explain what it is exactly and why you should strongly consider using it for your own marketing practices.

Okay, so what’s transparency? Well, quite simply put, it’s getting everything out in the open. No secrets, no hidden agenda, no surprises. What you see is what you get. My apologies to whatever group it was who did that 70s tune. Anyway, if you take a look around, you will probably notice a lot of marketers using this tactic, if you can call it a tactic. To me, it’s just being honest and up front. Granted, it’s a novel concept for many Internet marketers. So why should we use transparency?

Well, for starters, with the crackdown by the FTC, you really don’t have much of a choice. Oh sure, you might get away with a few shenanigans for a while, but eventually, a customer is going to get ticked off and report you to the feds. If enough customers do this, don’t be surprised to find yourself on the short end of a federal investigation. I’m going to guess that it’s not a lot of fun. So that’s one reason.

But even forgetting about the feds, let’s look at our prospects and customers. How much more trust do you think you’re going to instill in them if you are completely open and honest about your offers? Want to give them the option for a continuity program when they purchase a $7 ebook? No problem. Just tell them this up front. Get it out in the open right away. Your prospects will appreciate the honesty more than you will ever know.

Long before the feds ever starting cracking down on some of the nonsense going on in the Internet marketing community, I always simply stated what I had to say, didn’t hide anything and played by the rules. Sure, I might have lost some sales doing this. But I can’t remember anybody ever emailing me and calling me a crook or a con man.

Ultimately, what it comes down to is your own ethics. But, I will say this. If more Internet marketers take on this new transparency thing and you continue to operate your shady operation, you’re going to so stand out like a sore thumb that eventually you WILL become the Internet’s pariah.

Now that’s one label I wouldn’t wish on anybody.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim.
