Real Internet Marketing Skills vs Automation – What Resources Should I Choose?
Every internet marketer has to choose (sooner or later) between two main plans of action: Automation OR Marketing as an Art and Skill. About me? I’m just an internet “surfer” who found himself in this trendy internet marketing thing, made some sales and fell in love with it.
I believed in talent and hard work and had begun to build a blog, article by article, with all my personal philosophies, experiences and ideas. Of course I knew nothing about optimization and social bookmarking. So, I was lucky to even get indexed somewhere between the millions of results. I now know that there are programs that can create 100 blogs in no time, submit altered (enough) articles to hundreds of directories and instantly produce the work I would normally do in 6 months.
I was disgusted initially as I understood how “innocent” I’ve been. That’ s how a craftsman must have felt when the first factories began to produce massive amounts of … everything. Information would never stay behind. This is the true informational revolution. Intellectual production is getting automated. I can’t ignore it any more or be mad about it, I have to accept it (or even use it!).
But now is time to choose something Big: Should I concentrate all my efforts (and energy) in getting and learning about the latest piece of software that will dominate search engines, or should I stick with my marketing understanding and do what seems to be like “practicing an art”? Staying ahead by using the best software title that does this or that is a full time job, I don’t know if I’ll be able to combine both very well.
I am trying to understand all the time deeper and deeper the basics about research, attention grabbing, finding my personal style, becoming an EXPERT in a niche so that I help people to overcome their problems etc. You can never understand this enough. It’s infinitely deep. It’s about learning to connect with people and situations better and better. It’s like learning to play a piece of music better and better.
In case you have to choose a personal path as an internet marketer, would you stick with practicing an art or would you like to be in a constant hide and seek game with search engines? I’ve come to appreciate search engines’ efforts to eliminate cheap site’s generators, and article directories like this one that reviews articles before their posting.
I’m sticking with the art practicing, it feels right. We’ll see what happens.
