Developing a laser focus, especially for those new to this, means finding a project or campaign and devoting your efforts exclusively to that project for an extended period of time. A newbie to this may spend six to twelve months on his or her first successful campaign. This requires discipline. The second of the three keys to online internet marketing success, I have already touched on. In a word, this key is persistence. Put in more direct words, don’t quit! Take a day or two away from the IM gig and decompress. Get some exercise, take a walk, go on a date with your significant other, spend time with your kids. These are all great ways to recharge. Then come back refreshed and renewed.
The last of the three keys to online internet marketing revolves around training. Getting some training how to effectively do internet marketing is pure gold. You can buy a book, or subscribe to a blog or track down any number of other internet training sources. The key is to secure quality training on the big difference makers when it comes to IM. For example, SEO, using HTML, how to build an effective web page, web hosting, using PPC and effective use of images on your website to name a few. The best internet training will be real time (meaning you can long on to forum and ask questions) and it will have a mix of learning from reading text and watching video. Especially for those new to IM, you should aim for a 50:50 split between time spent learning and time spent doing. Effective internet training made all the difference for me. Plus, I was and still am able to rub shoulders with some of the best and have learned their tricks to maintaining focus and perseverance.
