What Will Happen With Internet Marketing in 2008?

This article will point towards a question we’re all interested in… What will the internet marketing strategies for 2008 look like? The competition in 2007 has been fierce and it was nothing like 5 years ago. This article will bring up some personal thoughts on the subject and also a few predictions of the future “game”. What will it take to survive in the next year? Does anybody know or will it all be a huge prediction?

Internet marketing has had a huge change over the years. Before Google AdWords was quote “Easy” and millionaires seemed to pop up overnight all over the place. All you needed to do was plug in your affiliate link into almost any keyword, set it at $0.06 and off it went. You’d make money. Google Cash was born and the concept has been in many entrepreneurs minds over the last couple of years. Because that was lazy, hands off and easy – However. the times have changed.

Affiliate marketing is more competitive than ever, but at the same time the doors have opened for more possibilities, more new innovative thinking and creative people. There are more products to promote. There are more markets and upcoming markets. We have new ways to advertise, viral tools, wider range of success, more failure, more frustration and even a couple of “accidental” millionaires.

We have seen Butterfly Marketing take it’s course the last couple of years and when it was released, it took the internet by storm. As of now, in my mind, the future holds only new ideas. But to truly survive in 2008 we need to find the “purple cow” as Seth Godin would have said it. It’s no longer possible to simply place an affiliate link in an even highly optimized AdWords ad, because e-books such as Google Blackbook, Day Job Killer and many more have already sold millions of dollars revealing the true concept of 2007’s affiliate marketing success, yet so many struggle… What is it that is holding us back? I don’t know…

There has to be something new for 2008. Blog and ping is supposedly dead. SEO is dead… Google AdWords is dead… Affiliate marketing is dead… In peoples opinions it’s all dead. In my opinion everything is very much alive… The possibilities of the newborn internet marketing scene is endless. There are no limitations whatsoever. We are only limited to what we think we don’t know and fear of the future.

I won’t be surprised if I see new tool or software coming out that helps people do something that’s 97% new, or at least new as a product, but was never limited in theory. We have the innovators spread across America and the world. They are all out there… Maybe I’m the guy who comes up with that idea. I have a few predictions in my mind of who these people will be.

People will have to move out of the “make money” niche and concentrate on other markets. Market research tells us that there are a huge amount of competitors in the IM niche. I like to see it as having more and more potential. As long as we don’t copy exactly what other people are doing, the IM scene will never die. I believe 2008 will have at least 50 new awesome tools to increase PPC marketing. There will be tools that have faster keyword research compared over multiple databases. A tool that collects all affiliate networks and enables people to spy on competition on the keyword level even deeper than any of the tools I’ve seen.

Even though tools such as Affiliate Elite, Ad Spy Pro and Keyword Xray do a great job of finding your competition 90% of people (?) are still lost… The following year will have to be dedicated towards winning the affiliate game. Crushing the product scene and innovate in the software business. It’s time to find new ways to use social bookmarking, videos and other viral tools. In conclusion, I believe that marketing in 2008 will be about new ideas in new markets, viral marketing and despite the many software already out there, about automated tools to help business owners with many of the time consuming tasks we are facing daily.
