The Importance Of Matching The Colour To the Market In Web Design

The web design you choose for your site is the most essential thing when it comes to grabbing people’s attention. When a user first visits a website, the time line of getting his attention is so little, it is virtually just seconds and when you have this little time to attract a potential customer, or just a supporter of your cause – how your site looks is of utmost importance. When a user is already on your site and is checking it out the functionality is important; you do not want him to leave the page quickly, you want to keep him to convey your idea or sell the products or services you offer.

But how do you make him stay on your site in the first place? The answer to that is very simple, yet it can be very complex. Colour. This is what attracts attention, colour can create elegance, and it can also be disturbing or alarming. Colour is the bait that will get the users to take a closer look at your site.

You should take advantage of all the colour research and scientific and artistic theories to get the best shades for your site. The contrast when it comes to colour is a useful technique, because creating this contrast you can emphasize the main idea and make it stand out in the eyes of the user. The complementation of the chosen colours also play a big role as when the shades complement each other the eyes of the person on the web won’t strain and when a harmonious palette is created it is only natural for the eyes to stay on the page.

But creating a web design you should consider what kind of audience you will attract and what you are selling, choosing the colour theme wisely for the appropriate market. Yellow is a very bright colour, it is usually associated with warning signs, but psychologically yellow is associated with happiness and strong emotions. The intense warning colour red is hard to ignore and will instantly catch the eye of the user. If you use blue colour it will convey a feeling of passivity and restfulness. Same goes for the green shades and using those will bring a sense of peacefulness. The colour orange also brings happiness to the eye and is often times associated with food. If you want to have a feeling of elegance and warmth – use the violet colour, it is associated with nobility.

Choose and mix your web design colours wisely and you will attract just the right people for the market you are in.
