Web Design Mistakes – 3 Common Mistakes When Laying Out Your Web Design
A lot of people tend to give up on designing their own web site because they feel they need to hire a professional web designer to get a satisfactory result. In fact, a lot of people do make mistakes that will stand in the way of having a successful website. Avoid these 3 common mistakes and you may be able to save a bundle on web design.
Mistake number 1 – cluttering your site with too many elements!
A lot of people suffer from the notion that you have to put something on every pixel of your web page. It’s the same as when you put too many accessories in your home. It becomes cluttered!
Solution – clean up your website!
Make sure that you only include the elements on your website that serves a purpose.
Mistake number 2 – failing to repeat key design elements on all individual web pages.
Although it might seem fun to make different areas of your web site look different it will confuse your visitor. That is why you need to repeat key website design elements on all pages of your web site. This will both help the branding of your website and it will make the visitor feel more at home on your website.
Mistake number 3 – not having a clear objective with your web design!
The most important mistake I see in website design is not having a clear cut objective! I mean, people try to do too many different things on the same page. Here is a list of common objectives on a web page.
- Branding.
- Collecting members for a mailing list.
- Selling a product.
- Sharing information.
These are all objectives that serve a valid purpose, but you should never try to achieve more than one of these objectives on any one web page!
